About This Blog

I'm Julie Baumler. I was raised as a Unitarian Universalist, dedicated at First Unitarian Universalist Church of Columbus at the Christmas service when I was 5 or so. As a UU, I was encouraged from childhood to think about my beliefs, not just believe by faith. I still find that to be important.

If you want to know where I'm coming from spiritually, you should absolutely read this post On Having Faith and Temporal Lobe Epilepsy. You should probably read it anyway if you are on this page.

When I link to books or other products, I often use affiliate links where I may eventually benefit if you make a purchase. That said, I don't link to things for no reason. I usually use Bible Gateway for scripture links, this is not an endorsement of the things they advertise (theirs or not) on their site, although I do endorse making scripture study easy. I also link to the Vanderbilt Divinity Library all the time. This is an endorsement (of the library at least, I don't know enough about the rest of the school to have an opinion.)

I mostly use the New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) of the bible. Official informationabout the NRSV. I try to remember to tag posts with the translation used, but I regularly forget and did not do so initially (I am going back to do so.)
